upsides of COVID19

The two greenest periods of the last 20 years was Y2K and the 2008 recession. We had global reductions in CO2 levels, less miles traveled and cleaner air and water during those two downturns.  But that's nothing compared to what were starting to see with this COVID19 downturn+.   With human animals confined to their nests and caves, the outside world is becoming more accessible to wildlife, way cleaner air and water, and a small healing of our planet has begun.

One of the most heart warming stories was the sighting of a red fox in Yosemite.' the park said that it was the first time the fox ― a distinct subspecies of the more common red fox ― had been seen on a camera south of Tioga Pass Road since its surveys began in 2011. '

But how long will it last?  Will we blindly start our economic 'war' machine up again and once again declare our false victory over nature?

Heck, there's even been benefits to human 'wildlife':

Lockdowns have reduced opportunities for homicides and other crimes, and the virus has taken some criminals out of action as they hunker down in their homes. Some gangs have even led efforts to impose curfews in neighborhoods where they hold sway.
In El Salvador, for example, there were just 65 homicides in March, down from 114 in February. Neighboring Honduras has also seen a falloff in killings in recent weeks, as has Colombia and the most populous state in Mexico.
The pandemic is “taking people off the streets,” said Alejandro Hope, a security analyst in Mexico City. “The rule of thumb is: the stricter the lockdown, the bigger the effect on crimes committed against strangers on the street.”
